Roy
Hagen has been providing computer-related services to institutions
and individuals for more than a dozen years. His
initial involvement in computer technology was in the Salem,
Massachusetts, public schools where he worked for 35 years
teaching and, for
the last several years, serving as their first
Technology Director. He developed and maintained the district
web site and provided training and technical support for
their staff
of over
800 while leading the district in meeting the Massachusetts
Department of Education technology standards.

For
the last three years, Roy has worked as a freelance web designer,
a photo researcher and illustrator for Addison Wesley Pearson,
a major book publisher in Boston, and has worked in many technical
roles for Hagen Gallery, a local watercolor and jewelry studio
run by
his daughter, Gina, and his wife, Marylou. Recently he has done
a major revision of the Salem Public Schools website, which has
been praised by the staff and administration, and has created and
maintains brand new websites for J. Martinoli & Sons Building
& Renovating and Warneck Law Offices.

Before becoming involved in computer technology, Roy ran a very
successful TV Production program at Salem High School for over
ten years with
no fewer than six of his students moving into successful careers
in television with CNN, ESPN, Paramount Television (now CBS
Television Studios), and FOX-TV.
|
His college training was in music, with a
Bachelors Degree in Music Education and a Masters Degree in Music
Theory and Composition from UMass Lowell. In addition to teaching
music in grades K-12, he also
sang for ten years in the New England Conservatory Alumni Chorus
which performed with the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Roy conducted
the Polymnia
Choral
Society
in Melrose,
MA, and
served as
Music Director
for a
local church
for
ten
years,
directing
their
choirs and serving as cantor. Before that, he was the vocalist/bassist
in the Tony Alvino Trio, playing for weddings and club engagements.

Roy enjoys attending classical music concerts, watching baseball
(especially the Boston Red Sox), playing guitar, and bowling.
